I lead a research team of talented computer scientists and students in designing new computer hardware and software methods that can crunch data many times faster than we can today. Our methods apply to computers out in the field used to analyze environmental samples and to supercomputing clusters used to study web and social network data. As a computer scientist, I appreciate working with applications experts who can truly evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of the tools my team creates. The Lab provides a unique opportunity to put our contributions to the litmus test in the real world.
I also like doing backbends and headstands in yoga. You can look at the world from a different perspective!
